MARIETTA, Ohio - Nearly 10 months after capturing an
outdoor pole vault conference championship, Midway's
Austin Ratliff duplicated that feat at the River States Conference Indoor Championships on Friday.
The Midway senior took the top spot in pole vault competition Friday, winning with ease and recording a new program-record height of 4.20 meters.
He highlighted seven all-conference finishes for the Eagles, who are in fifth place with 30 points at the halfway point of the two-day tournament.
Ratliff cleared 4.20 on his second try and finished comfortably ahead of Indiana East's Connor Nease, the runner-up at 3.95. He also broke his own indoor program record of 4.05,
set just three weeks ago at the Centre Indoor Showcase.
On the track side, two Eagle relay teams both cracked the top-four.
The team of
Josiah Kocis,
Gregory Anderson,
Isaac Cockrell and
Carson Milner were third in the 4,000-meter distance medley in 10:50.29 while Cockrell,
Steven Meyer,
Connor Byrd and
Hunter Belville were fourth in 8:47.24 in the 4x800 relay.
Kocis also took fifth in the 5,000 in 15:15.04 while
Elie Mugisha was eighth in the 600 in 1:27.10.
In other field events, Harry Van Why (6.19 meters) and
Brayden Carson (6.01) were seventh and eighth respectively in long jump while

It marked the second meet in a row Sexton broke the shot put record, narrowly topping
his 14.53-meter toss at the Steemer Showcase.
