DANVILLE, Ky. - A day after recording numerous
record-setting and
national-qualifying performances, the Midway men's and women's track and field teams returned to action at the Centre College Indoor Showcase on Saturday.
The Eagle women placed 11th in a 16-team field with 18 points, while the men were 14th of 15 with a score of 12.
WOMEN
Field events continued to be Midway's strength, with Emerson Vanscoy,
Makayla Brooks and
Trinity Gottler all earning top-five finishes.
Vanscoy had the best finish of the day, placing third in high jump with a height of 1.58 meters. Brooks and Gottler took fifth in pole vault and weight throw respectively, Brooks topping out at 2.70 meters, Gottler at 13.13.
Macy Adams added a fifth-place showing on the track side, finishing the 1,000-meter run in 3:22.68.
MEN
Austin Ratliff had the top showing for Midway in pole vault, placing fifth with a jump of 4.05. That height gave Ratliff,
the 2024 River States Outdoor champion in the event, a new program record.
In the 4x400 relay, the team of
Gregory Anderson,
Ben Jones,
Corey Banks and
Bowen Workman placed sixth in a time of 3:37.68. Jones, who ran a program-record 8.84 seconds in the same event at the Bellarmine PNC Invite Friday, was seventh in the 60 hurdles in 9.10.
Also placing for Midway in high jump was
Karl Livingston, who was seventh at 1.75.
Midway has one last meet before the River States Indoor Championships. The Eagles will travel to Springfield, Ohio for the Steemer Showcase on Feb. 1.
