PERRY PARK, Ky - After jumping out to a four-stroke lead at the end of day one, Midway struggled a bit in the second round, dropping to the runner-up spot at the two-day Klash In Kentucky women's golf tournament, which concluded on Sunday.
The Eagles shot a 26-over par, 314 on Saturday but their total climbed to 323 on Sunday, allowing 21st-ranked Pikeville, which improved by nine strokes on Saturday, to jump them in the final standings with a +51 score of 627.
Midway's 637 (+61) was two strokes better than third-place Ashland (Ohio).
The top-three Eagles were all within a single shot of each other.
Kasey Cameron was three strokes off the lead in tie for fourth place with a two-day score of 157 (+13). Just behind in a tie for sixth were
Maryssa Phillips and
Bree Smith, who both shot 158.
In 17th place,
Savannah Salchli was 20-over par with a 164. Salchli made a two-stroke improvement on day two, shooting an 81 (+9).
Elsewhere,
Anna New tied for second with a score of 167 (+23) and
Kelsay Collins was 38th with a 178 (+34).
The Eagles get just one day off before traveling for the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout in Johnson City on Tuesday.
