WILMORE, Ky. - Midway captured wins in three events and took third at the nine-team Asbury Men's Track and Field Invitational Friday.
The Eagles' 68 points as a team came in behind the 169 of host Asbury and the 109 of Central State (Ohio).
Cole Sexton highlighted a strong day in field events with a first-place, 43.20-meter toss in discus.
He also took second to teammate
Raush Gill in hammer throw. Gill won at 47.19 meters with Sexton throwing 44.73.
Midway had three throwers in the top-five in both discus and hammer. DJ Clayton was fourth in hammer throw (39.30) with Gill (38.13) and
Kaidhyn Stockdale (37.44) taking fourth and fifth in discus.
On the track side,
Tyler Withers led the way with a winning run of 22.76 seconds in the 200-meter run while also placing third in the 100 in 11.47.
Ben Jones was a runner-up in triple jump, maxing out at an even 12 meters.
Others landing in the top-five for the Eagles were
Karl Livingston Jr. in long jump (fourth, 5.34) and Gill in javelin (fifth, 38.38).
Midway is back at it Saturday, traveling to Northern Kentucky University for the Norse invitational at 11:30 a.m.
