HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Emerson VanScoy continued her winning ways while
Trinity Gottler had another strong shot put performance to lead Midway women's track and field at the Norse Invitational Saturday.
At the 12-team event hosted by Northern Kentucky University and featuring several NCAA Division-I schools, the Eagles came in sixth place with 49 points.
For the fourth time this outdoor season, VanScoy came in first in the high jump, hitting a top height of 1.60 meters.
A day after wins
in both the hammer throw and javelin at the Asbury Invitational, Gottler was the runner-up in shot put, topping out at 11.26.
That was one of two second-place finishes for the Eagles, the other coming in the 4x100-meter relay, where
Kashlynn Rice,
Sarah Baker,
Machaiah Poynter and
Emilee Cecil ran a 51.74.
Rice placed in the top-five in two hurdle events as well, taking third in the 100Â (17.32) and fifth in the 400 (1:12.57).
Others to score Saturday were
Maddi Reed in the pole vault (third, 3.50), Baker in the 100 hurdles (fifth, 19.39) and Cecil in the 100 (seventh, 12.61).
With just two weeks until the River States Outdoor Championships, Midway will have its last tune-up Friday at the Morehead State Eagle Twilight in Morehead, Ky.
