WILMORE, Ky. - Trinity Gottler and
Emerson VanScoy continued their great springs by combining for three wins and helping Midway finish in a tie for third at the Asbury Women's Track and Field Invitational on Friday.
The Eagles and Spaulding both finished with 67 points, coming in behind Central State (Ohio) and Asbury, who had 194 and 126 respectively.Â
Gottler took first place in both the hammer throw and javelin. In hammer, she had a top throw of 45.61 meters, while in javelin,
an event she qualified for NAIA Nationals in two weeks ago, she threw 34.91.
Gottler also placed second with a toss of 34.91 in discus.
VanScoy, a three-time winner and
national qualifier in high jump during outdoor season, found first-place success in another event Friday, winning the long jump at 5.03 meters.
She was one of four from Midway to finish in the top-five in the event, joined by
Maddi Reed (third, 4.68),
Kashlynn Rice (fourth, 4.42) and
Makayla Brooks (fifth, 4.35).
The Eagles had three runners score in the 100-meter dash as well.
Emilee Cecil was second in 13.17 seconds with
Sarah Baker (14.02) and
Machaiah Poynter (14.33) taking fourth and sixth respectively.
Midway also got points in the 100 hurdles, where
Brianna Trigg was fourth in 19.57 seconds.
The Eagles are back in action at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, where they will compete in the Norse Invitational hosted by Northern Kentucky University.
