Gottler makes national debut in javelin

MARION, Ind. - Trinity Gottler made her debut at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Wednesday, placing 26th in the javelin.

Originally slated to begin at 6:30 p.m., the event was delayed by more than a half hour as rain and wind put field events behind schedule.

Throwing into a fierce cross wind blowing left to right, Gottler's first two throws landed out to the right. But she was able to straighten out her last attempt, landing it in at a distance of 34.57 meters.

A program record holder in multiple throwing events, Gottler concludes a sophomore season that saw her break Midway's outdoor javelin top mark (40.46 meters).

She also earned a River States Conference outdoor title in javelin and was all-conference in three separate events across the indoor and outdoor seasons.

POLE VAULT POSTPONED, REED TO COMPETE THURSDAY

The conditions that stalled Gottler's first outdoor experience delayed Maddi Reed's by more than a day, as pole vault was postponed due to heavy rains at the time competition was slated to begin.

Originally slated for noon on Wednesday, Reed and the field are now scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Thursday.
