MOREHEAD, Ky. - Midway's men's track and field team got two wins at the Morehead State University Twilight on Friday, with
Carson Milner having a hand in both.
In a near photo finish in the 800-meter run, Milner narrowly got the best of an NCAA Division-I opponent in Morehead State's Weston Blair. Milner won with a time of 1:56.77, just 0.16 seconds faster than Blair.
He would then team with
Josiah Kocis,
Connor Messer and
Steven Meyer for a winning time of 3:30.87 in the 4x400-meter relay.Â
Kocis (fourth, 1:58.45) and Meyer (fifth, 2:02.81) also secured top-eight finishes in the 800, as did
Isaac Cockrell (eighth, 2:05.58).
Messer got a third-place finish in the 400 in 50.50 seconds, while
Karl Livingston Jr. was third with a 12.37-meter finish in triple jump.
WOMEN'S RACE
The Midway women landed three top-six performances spread out over two events.
Stevie McSorley and
Trinity Smith placed fourth and sixth respectively in the 800, McSorley running a 2:25.25, Smith a 2:26.47.
In the 4x400 relay, McSorley,
Abby Baldridge,
Macy Adams and
Ariah Egleston were third in 4:32.43.
The postseason now awaits Midway, which will take part in the River States Conference Outdoor Championships in Rio Grande, Ohio next Friday and Saturday.
