MIDWAY, Ky. - Four Midway men's tennis players were named to the All-River States Conference Team on Wednesday, with
Axel Sperling earning First-Team recognition
for the second year in a row.
Sperling won nine times between singles and doubles while competing in the No. 1 singles position most of the year. He played a key role in the Eagles finishing the regular season with a 4-1 mark in conference matches.
Qualifying for the Second Team were senior
German Collado and freshman
Ferran Clapes. The pair solidified their standing in doubles, where they had a 9-5 accumulative record, splitting time between the No. 1 and 2 spots.
Collado, a Third-Team selection last season, was 9-5 in singles, while Clapes went 8-6.
Earning his first All-RSC honor was Third-Team selectee
Izan Casado. The junior from Leon, Spain won a combined nine matches between singles and doubles during the 2024-25 season.
The Eagles, the No. 2 seed in the River States Conference Championships, will open play in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday. They will face the winner of a first-round match between No. 3 Brescia and No. 6 Indiana East that morning.
The tournament will be played in Evansville, Ind.
