DANVILLE, Ky. - Competing in just two events, the Midway women's track and field team made the most of its limited opportunities, winning both at the Centre Invitational Saturday.
Emerson VanScoy won the high jump while
Maddi Reed was victorious in pole vault as the Eagles finished in seventh place with 20 points.
VanScoy, who's already
qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, won with a top height of 1.65 meters Saturday, clearing on her third attempt.
Reed won the pole vault at a height of 3.52 meters. Both she and Story Laing of Wittenberg (Ohio) cleared 3.52, but Reed was declared the winner as she needed just two tries to get over the bar, while Laing needed three.
Saturday marked the third meet in a row both VanScoy and Reed have won their respective events to open the outdoor season.
