DANIELS, W.V. - Having won four of the previous five River States Conference Fall Previews, the Midway men's golf team couldn't find the same rhythm in 2025, settling for a second-place finish at the two-day event, which concluded on Tuesday.
The Eagles finished the tournament 15-over par as a team with a score of 591.
Eight strokes off the lead entering the day, West Virginia Tech took advantage of playing at its home course with an excellent, even-par 288 Tuesday to win with a 584 (+8). Four strokes behind Midway in third was Indiana East, which entered the day in first place by six strokes.
Four Eagles finished in the top-10, with steady freshman
Gabe Cole leading the way in a tie for fourth.
Cole was even-par on Monday and one-over on Tuesday. He came out on fire in the opening round, shooting a three-under par 33 on the front-nine and recording seven birdies for the entire tournament on his way to a final score of 145.
Three shots behind Cole in a tie for seventh was
Gage Gregory, while
Tristan Mitchell and
Benjamin Spencer were one shot behind Gregory as part of a four-way tie for ninth place.
Midway had three even-par rounds for the tournament, with Cole and Spencer reaching it on Monday and Mitchell doing so Tuesday.Â
Competing as an individual,
Kobe Ingram tied for 31st with a two-day score of 157 (+13), while
Kobe Colvin tied for 58th with a 170 (+26).
