Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Career days, late run lifts men's basketball to rout of Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Midway got a career-best 22-point effort from Tim Fuller and closed on a 23-6 run to take down Brescia 92-72 in a River States Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon.

Fuller got 16 of his points in the first half, including making 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Despite the dominance of Fuller, who made six triples on the afternoon, the Eagles held just a one-point, 38-37 lead at halftime.

The Eagles first looked primed to pull away eight-and-a-half minutes into the second half, when a Dontavius King layup put them ahead 60-49, before the Bearcats got close again, cutting the lead to 69-66 on an Israel Momodu 3-pointer.

But that was immediately answered by a Sam Parrish 3-pointer and it was all Midway from that point on, as the Eagles proceeded to score on their next 10 possessions.

The 92 points were the second most scored by a Midway team this season, while the 20-point margin of victory was the biggest since a 109-59 victory against Indiana Columbus on Jan. 30 of last year, the most lopsided win in program history.

Three-point shooting proved to be the biggest difference Saturday. Midway made 14-of-27 attempts, while Brescia hit just 7-of-21.

Parrish had the best scoring effort of his Midway career as well, finishing with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting. He also made a huge impact on defense, leading all players with five steals.

All told, five Eagles finished in double figures. Decoreio Smith and Travontae Swift both scored 14, with Amari Wales scoring 12.

Midway also got great ball movement, recording 20 assists on 32 made field goals. Wales had seven assists, with Parris and Smith both adding five.

King narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds for 5-9 Midway, which has won two in a row to improve to 2-2 in conference play.

The Eagles have a good chance to get above .500 in the RSC on Tuesday, when they travel to face Kentucky Christian (4-10, 1-3) at 6 p.m.
