DANVILLE, Ky. - Already a two-time indoor national qualifier this season,
Emerson VanScoy achieved a new level of success with a qualifying 'A' standard height of 3.85 meters in pole vault at the Centre Indoor Invitational Saturday.
The Eagles finished sixth in the 18-team field with 31 points.
Having previously
hit the 'B' standard 3.55 meters, VanScoy easily eclipsed that mark in a second-place finish Saturday while also blowing pass the minimum 'A' mark of 3.65.
Her 3.85 finish is just shy of the program record of 3.87 meters, set by six-time All-American
Nevaeh Brown when she finished second
at the 2024 NAIA Indoor National Championships.
VanScoy was one of two Eagle pole vaulters to his a national qualifying standard Saturday, with
Makayla Brooks finishing fifth by clearing 3.55 meters for the second time this season.
Cate Coppola also scored, finishing seventh at 3.40.
Elsewhere,
Riley Gillis set a new personal record in the 5,000-meter run, finishing third in 20:48.36.
In the 600,
Stevie McSorley placed sixth and ran a program-event record time of 1:46.00. Emma Lesher also scored with an eighth-place run of 1:59.34.
McSorley and Lesher also teamed with
Abby Baldridge and
Ariah Egleston for a fourth-place run 4:42.67.
The Eagles now turn their attention to the postseason, as the River State Conference Indoor Championships will be held in Marietta, Ohio next Friday and Saturday.
