MIDWAY, Ky. - After maintaining a perfect singles record against stiff competition, Midway's
Ricardo Starosta has been rewarded with his second River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award.
Starosta ran his No. 1 singles record to 6-0 last week, the highlight being a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set victory over Jacopo Cianfarini of the University of the Cumberlands, the No. 26-ranked player in the nation.
He had another strong outing against Campbellsville two days later, topping Alex Martin 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles after teaming with
Mudiwa Munyimani for a 6-3 No. 1 doubles win over Derrick Namanya and Artur Yakubov.
This is the second RSC Player of the Week award of the season for Starosta,
who also also won it on March 16.
The Eagles, who are 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the RSC, will be in Ohio for two matches this week. They face NCAA Division-II Cedarville on Wednesday before returning to conference action against Shawnee State Saturday.
