MIDWAY, Ky. - A dominant weekend at No. 1 singles and doubles earned Midway's
Ricardo Starosta River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Starosta won two straight-set singles matches against Indiana Southeast and Brescia on Friday and Saturday, with three of the four sets being decided by the final of 6-0.
He and
Mudiwa Munyimani also won a pair of matches in doubles, helping Midway beat
the Grenadiers 7-0 and
the Bearcats 6-1Â to start off conference play 2-0.
Starosta is the first Eagle to win the Player of the Week award since
Manuel Mirabal captured it
on March 31 of last season. He was part of a
Player of the Week sweep for Midway on Monday, with Alicia Sanglas Sanglas winning the women's award.
The Eagles, who are 2-1 overall, had a Monday road matchup at Campbellsville postponed due to weather.Â
