MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway freshman
Alicia Sanglas Sanglas has been named River States Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
In a pair of wins
against Indiana Southeast and Brescia over the weekend, Sanglas was 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position, while also going 2-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner
Emma Pheiffer.
Against the Bearcats, Sanglas overcame a 6-3 loss in the opening set to Jada Flakes, bouncing back to win 6-4 in the second and 7-5 in the third
to help the Eagles earn a 4-3 win.
This is the first Player of the Week for Sanglas and the first for an Eagle since
Agustina Olivero won in back-to-back weeks
on March 11 and
March 18, 2024.
Midway, which is 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the RSC. A road matchup with Campbellsville on Monday was postponed due to the weather.
Midway went a perfect 2-for-2 in Player of the Week honors, with Ricardo Starosta capturing
the men's award Monday.
