MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway travels to Quincy University for a Week 3 matchup against the Hawks at noon on Sunday at QU Stadium.
The Eagles are coming into this game off a 55-14 win against Bellarmine to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Quarterback Chrisitan Carter threw a season-high 282 passing yards in the contest on 14 completions (20.1 avg.). Carter also threw for three touchdowns.
Ayden Bauwens was Carter's go-to target last week. They connected a game-high five times for 129 yards and a touchdown. Bauwens 38-yard touchdown reception gave the Eagles a 14-0 lead very early in the first quarter.
On defense, the Eagles combined for eight tackles for loss totaling 42 yards. They also recorded three sacks with Jamarion Taylor leading the category with one. Diego Torres had their lone interception. Torres picked off Knights quarterback Jaime Jones with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Freshman running backs Leondre Martin and Zane Wickliffe powered the Eagles backfield. Wickliffe had a game-high two touchdowns, both coming on rushes. Martin led both teams in rushing yards and attempts. He ran for 107 yards in 14 attempts (7.6 avg.).
Midway dominated the MSFL awards last week. Carter was named MSFL Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and the fourth time in his career. Hayden Cockrell won Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row.
Quincy is coming into the game 1-1 after a loss to Calumet College of St. Joseph last week 21-6.
Midway is 3-2 all-time against the Hawks.
