Luttor and Aoki sweep RSC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- It was announced on Monday, April 16, that Graeham Luttor and Brandon Aoki had swept the River States Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for their respective performances on the diamond the week of April 9-15.

Graeham Luttor was named the RSC Baseball Player of the Week for the first time this season and the first time of his young career, while Brandon Aoki earned RSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season and the second time in his career.

The duo played a key role last week helping lead the Midway University baseball team to a 3-1 record with a with a win over No. 20 Campbellsville (Ky.) and two wins in a three-game series against No. 14 Point Park (Pa.).

In a 7-3 upset victory over No. 20 Campbellsville to begin the week on Tuesday, April 10, Luttor went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI's and two runs scored. Then in the series against Point Park, he went 7-for-11 with a two-run home run, a double, five RBI's and three runs scored.

Luttor finished the week with a .533 batting average and a .867 slugging percentage. The freshman from Toronto, Canada, went 8-for-15 with two doubles, a home run, seven RBI's and five runs scored. He was also intentionally walked two times for a total of four walks.

Following last week's performance, Luttor ranks third on the team batting .333, while holding a team best .579 slugging percentage. He now has six home runs, 11 doubles and 41 runs batted in to go with 26 runs scored.

Meanwhile, Brandon Aoki posted a solid outing in the 8-3 upset victory over the 14th ranked Pioneers on Friday, April 13. Aoki had a perfect game through 4.2 innings, while taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

The Camarillo, Calif. native silenced one of the top offenses in the NAIA. The junior tossed a complete game allowing just four hits and three unearned runs in nine innings of work on the mound. The left-hander held the Pioneers to a .121 batting average.

After his performance last week, Aoki is now 5-4 on the season with a 2.50 earned run average. He has pitched in a team best 57.2 innings and has fanned 47 batters on the season. He also is allowing opponents to hit just .229.

Following last week's 3-1 record, the Eagles improve to 21-18 overall and 13-7 in River States Conference play. They are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Shawnee State (Ohio) for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
