MIDWAY, Ky. -- After the regular season was completed earlier this week, the conference office released the 2019 River States Conference Baseball bracket which is set to get underway on Thursday, May 2, at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.
The six-team, double-elimination tournament gets underway on Thursday, May 2, with three games beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
After going 25-25 overall and 14-13 in River States Conference play, the Midway baseball squad earned the No. 6 seed as they will meet top-seed, Indiana University Southeast – who recently moved into the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top-25 – at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday.
The Grenadiers – who are now ranked No. 24 in the NAIA – finished the regular season at 34-16 overall and 21-6 in league play. They also locked up one of the two automatic berths to the NAIA National Tournament after winning the conference's regular season title.
Following the opening game on Thursday, No. 2 seed, Point Park (Pa.) will meet fifth-seeded, Asbury (Ky.) at 3 p.m. ET. The Pioneers have won their last seven and finished at 31-15 overall and 19-8 in RSC play, while Asbury swept Midway in the final regular season series to finish at 24-20 overall and 15-12 in league play.
The nightcap on Thursday night pits the No. 3 seed, Indiana University Kokomo against the No. 4 seed, Rio Grande (Ohio). The Cougars (33-16, 19-8 RSC) and the RedStorm (34-18, 18-9 RSC) will begin at about 7 p.m. ET.
Three games will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with start times of 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET. The championship round is slated to begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the 'if necessary' game taking place after the first title game.
