Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. -- The River States Conference office announced on Monday (Jan. 31) that for the second consecutive week, Raekwon Evans of the Midway men's basketball team had been named the RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week this time for the week of Jan. 24-30.
The weekly honor is the third of the season for Evans, while it is the fourth weekly honor of his career. He also earned the honor last week after earning the honor earlier this season for the week of November 21-28, 2021.
A fifth-year graduate student from Louisville, Ky., Evans had yet another stellar week to lead Midway to a pair of conference victories over Carlow (Pa.) and Point Park (Pa).
Evans finished the week averaged 22.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game. He also shot 54.3 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from behind the arc.
In the 96-77 win over Carlow, Evans finished with 18 points to go with his seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. He also shot 6-of-9 from the floor, 2-of-3 from downtown and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Then, in Midway's 72-69 overtime victory over Point Park, Evans had a spectacular performance recording his seventh double-double of the season. The 6-4 forward scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while nabbing four steals and dishing out two more dimes.
Following his performances last week, Evans is now averaging 18.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest. He's also shooting 55.8 percent from the floor.
A 2017 graduate of Valley High School, Evans currently ranks third in the River States in both points per game and rebounds per game, while ranking seventh in both field goal percentage and assists per game.
Raekwon Evans has helped lead the Eagles to a five-game winning streak as they're currently 13-5 overall and 7-4 in league play. They're scheduled to step out of conference play on Wednesday (Feb. 2) when they travel to Asbury (Ky.).
