Box Score 3 MIDWAY, Ky. -- It was announced on Monday, February 7, that Franzso Severre and Daniel Cogo of the Midway men's volleyball had been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Volleyball Attacker and Setter of the Week for the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
Severre was named the Attacker of the Week for the first time this season and first time in his career, while Cogo was named the Setter of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career.
Both Severre and Cogo had monster weeks to help lead the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 mark including a league win over Rio Grande (Ohio) and non-conference victories over Milligan (Tenn.) and the Tennessee Club Team.
Franzso Severre, a sophomore from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, finished the week with 34 kills as he carded 3.78 kills per set. He also committed just nine miscues in his 53 swings to finish with a .472 hitting percentage. Severre also served five aces over the three matches.
In the win over the RedStorm he finished with seven kills in 13 swings, while adding 13 kills and a .647 hitting clip in a sweep of Milligan. He then closed the week with 14 kills and a .435 attacking percentage in the sweep of the Tennessee Club Team.
Following his performances last week, Severre is now averaging 3.33 kills per set which ranks second on the team. He's also hitting .319 for the season. He currently ranks 20th in the NAIA in hitting percentage and 29th in kills per set.
Daniel Cogo, a sophomore from Padua, Italy, had a terrific week dishing out 82 total assists for an average of 9.11 assists per set. He also picked up nine digs, while carding four kills in his five swings.
In the sweep of Rio Grande, Cogo dished out 21 assists. He then recorded 29 assists and two aces against Milligan, while closing the week with his best performance. In the win over the Tennessee Club Team, Cogo dished out 32 assists to go with his three digs and three kills.
After his three outings last week, he has recorded 110 assists and is averaging 9.17 assists per set. He's also picking up 1.17 digs per set. Cogo currently ranks 19th in the country in assists per set and 41st in total assists.
Following a 3-0 week last week, the Eagles continue their perfect start to the season improving to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Mid-South Conference play. They're scheduled to return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 9) when they host Campbellsville (Ky.) at 7 p.m. ET.
