Following the sweep, Luther Bramblett's squad runs their record to 7-16 overall, while they remain perfect in league play improving to 5-0. The two squads will wrap up their series on Friday with a single nine inning game beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday.

Game 1: Midway 13, Brescia 3 (8 Innings)

The Eagles got off to a hot start scoring four runs on six hits in the opening frame. Ryan Davis (Paris, Ky.) clubbed a solo home run to right field before Skyler Lucas (Elizabethtown, Ky.) added an RBI single and Preston Howard (Nicholasville, Ky.) hit a two-run single through the right side.

The Bearcats (6-16-1, 0-7 RSC) cut the deficit in half with two in the top of the fifth, but Midway responded by scoring three in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Jonathan Watson (Williamsburg, Ky.) opened the scoring in the sixth with an RBI single through the left side. Max Hill (Stockholm, Sweden) followed with a sacrifice fly, while Josh Halterman (Lexington, Ky.) capped the scoring with an RBI single scoring Watson from third.

Watson was at it again in the seventh when he laced an RBI double, while he came around to score when Grant Hotchkiss (Richmond, Ky.) singled to left center. Max Hill then stepped in the box and cleared the bases with a two-run home run giving his team the 11-2 lead.

Brescia got one back in the top of the eighth, but the home team soon ended the game in the bottom half. Halterman opened the inning with a single before Cameron Nichols – a junior from Owensboro, Ky. – crushed a walk-off two-run home run to straightaway center field.

Picking up the win for the Eagles was Blake Kincaid (Columbia, Tenn.) who turned in another solid start. The sophomore tossed five innings allowing two runs – one earned – on five hits with eight strikeouts. Nic Malchesky (Chatsworth, Ga.), meanwhile, picked up the save – his second of the year – after pitching three innings allowing one run on three hits.

Offensively the Eagles carded 16 hits led by Halterman who went 4-for-5 with an RBI. Nichols and Watson each added a pair and two RBIs, while Cameron Smith (Nicholasville, Ky.) also carded two hits in the win.

Game 2: Midway 8, Brescia 7

Trailing 5-4 following the top of the sixth inning, the Eagles forged ahead in the bottom half and did so in a big way. Zane Patton (Georgetown, Ky.) singled to open the inning as Cameron Smith stepped in the box.

The freshman from Nicholasville, Ky. hit a shot that cleared the fence in left center field for a two-run home run – the first of his career. The Eagles continued to add to their lead getting an RBI double from Ryan Davis and an RBI single from Josh Halterman as they took an 8-5 lead.

The Bearcats made things interesting getting a two-run double by Jacob Upshaw to make it 8-7, but a comebacker back to the pitcher ended the game and sealed the 8-7 victory.

Skyler Lucas picked up the win for the Eagles as he tossed 6.1 innings allowing seven runs – six earned – on nine hits. The sophomore right-hander also fanned a career-high 10 batters in the win. Cameron Head (Salem, Ky.) got the final two outs and picked up his first save of the year.
