Box Score KOKOMO, Ind. - In its last River States Conference game, the Midway men's basketball team turned a slow offensive start into a record-setting rout against Brescia.
Unfortunately, the Eagles had no such response after starting slowly again Thursday, as Indiana Kokomo put Midway away early in a 86-59 final.
Midway, which was looking to start RSC play 3-0 for the first time in program history, fell behind 12-1 after missing its first eight field goal attempts.
The offense was never able to get on track, as the Eagles shot just 20-of-71 from the field. The Cougars, who are now 14-0 all time against Midway, led 50-27 at the half thanks largely to Ty Willis, who scored 21 of his game-high 22 points in the opening 20 minutes.
IUK also finished with a 52-34 rebounding advantage, grabbing its first win in league play after opening with back-to-back losses.
Tobias Thompson had a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double in the loss. Jalen Cincore was one rebound shy of a double-double of his own, as he and Donnie Miller each scored a team-best 14 points for the Eagles, who drop to 4-5 overall on the season.
MIdway has one game remaining before a lengthy holiday break. It will host RSC foe St. Mary of the Woods (Ind.) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
