Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- On Tuesday evening, the Midway men's volleyball team faced off with Campbellsville (Ky.) in a Mid-South Conference match. Thanks to a blistering offense with a .470 hitting percentage, the Tigers earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-16) victory over the Eagles.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 6-11 overall and 0-9 in MSC play, while the Tigers improve to 8-14 overall and 4-4 in the MSC.
In the opening set, the hosts embarked on a 17-5 run to start the match. While the Eagles were able to cut the lead to 10 points on two occasions, Campbellsville pulled away and took the first set 25-11.
In the second, the two teams traded points with the Eagles holding an 8-7 lead following kills by Jonathan McGuyer (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) and Joey Boujaoude (Cincinnati, Ohio), and a McGuyer ace. The hosts, however, closed out the set on an 18-8 run to win 25-16.
The final set saw Campbellsville go on an early 10-3 run. Midway battled back, getting as close as 20-15 before the Tigers closed out the night on a 5-1 run to win the third set 25-16.
For the contest, Midway was led on the offensive side by Boujaoude who recorded six kills while McGuyer added five and Colton Marsh (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded four.
Daniel Cogo (Padua, Italy) dished out 15 assists, and Gabriel Plata (Barranquilla, Colombia) recorded four digs to lead the defensive effort.
The Midway men's volleyball team wraps up its regular season on Thursday, March 23 when it travels to Cumberland (Tenn.) for its Mid-South Conference finale. Opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
