Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MIDWAY, Ky. -- Following an eight-game road swing, the Midway baseball team returned home on Thursday afternoon when they welcomed IU Kokomo (Ind.) to town for a River States Conference doubleheader at Tracy Farmer – Don Ball Stadium.

The opener saw the Eagles score two in the sixth to claim a narrow 3-1 victory before using a six-run fourth in the nightcap to complete the sweep with a 10-7 victory in game two.

With the sweep, Luther Bramblett's squad improves to 17-13 overall and 11-3 in RSC play, while the Cougars slip to 16-13 overall and 7-6 in league play. The two are scheduled to wrap up their three-game series on Monday, April 3, at 2 p.m. ET at Tracy Farmer – Don Ball Stadium.

Game 1: Midway 3, IU Kokomo 1

The Cougars struck first scoring one run on two hits in the opening frame off of Blake Kincaid (Columbia, Tenn.). The right-hander settled down and scatter two hits over the next three innings before getting help from his offense in the bottom of the fourth.

Ryan Davis (Paris, Ky.) worked a one-out walk before moving to second after a groundout by Josh Halterman (Lexington, Ky.). Cameron Nichols then stepped to the plate and hit an RBI single to right-center scoring Davis from second and tying the game at one run apiece.

After Kincaid tossed a perfect sixth, Midway's offense went back to work in the bottom half scoring a pair to take their first lead of the contest. Davis reached on a fielder's choice and then came around to score after Nichols reached on a fielder's choice.

Nichols – who advanced to second on an errant throw by the shortstop – came around to score when Barrett McGill (Bloomfield, Ky.) hit a bloop single to center giving his team the 3-1 lead.

Kincaid tossed a scoreless seventh before giving way to Grant Stone (Lexington, Ky.), who worked around a leadoff single in the eighth. Jesse Komoroski (Memphis, Tenn.) entered in the ninth and tossed a perfect inning to clinch the win and nail down his fourth save of the season.

Kincaid turned in his best performance of the season to improve to 2-2 on the year. He fanned a season-high nine batters, allowing one run on five hits in his seven innings of work.

Game 2: Midway 10, IU Kokomo 7

Trailing 2-0 going to the bottom of the first, Midway took a one-run lead after scoring three runs. Ryan Davis hit his fifth homer of the season with a solo shot, while Cameron Nichols added an RBI double before scoring when Shane Taylor (Morehead, Ky.) reached on an error.

IU Kokomo regained a 6-3 lead after scoring one in the second and three in the third, but Midway answered by scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Noah Phillips (Greenville, Ky.) reached on a bases loaded walk, while Davis drove in a pair with a two-run single. Phillips then scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Halterman, while Davis scored on an errant throw by the shortstop. Taylor then pushed the lead to 9-6 with an RBI double.

Midway added a run in the fifth when Phillips hit a one-out double before scoring when Grant Hotchkiss (Richmond, Ky.) legged out a bunt single and moved to second on a wild throw.

The four-run cushion was more than enough for Midway's bullpen, which allowed one run over the final four frames. Cameron Head (Salem, Ky.) picked up the win and moved to 3-0 after allowing one hit in his 2.1 innings of work. Luke Richardson (Franklin, Ky.), meanwhile, got the final two outs in the sixth.
