Game 1: Oakland City 10, Midway 3
An RBI single by Cameron Nichols (Owensboro, Ky.) in the first gave Midway an early 1-0 lead, but the lead was short lived after the Mighty Oaks scored six in the bottom of the first and two in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 8-1 after two complete.
Eli Glasscock (Danville, Ky.) drove in Midway's runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but they ultimately came up short as Oakland City plated 10 runs on 13 hits en route to the 10-3 victory.
Owen Clark (Knoxville, Tenn.) was handed the loss after allowing eight runs on five hits in his 1.1 innings. Grant Stone (Lexington, Ky.) allowed two runs in his 3.1 innings, while Tyler Pyles (Louisville, Ky.) and John Davis (Princeton, Ky.) added scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
The trio of Ryan Davis (Paris, Ky.), Shane Taylor (Morehead, Ky.) and Nichols carded two hits apiece and accounted for six of Midway's seven hits.
Game 2: Midway 3, Oakland City 1
Just like the opener, Midway struck first with a run in the opening frame. Grant Hotchkiss (Richmond, Ky.) reached on a leadoff walk and stole second before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Josh Halterman (Lexington, Ky.).
Oakland City tied the game up in the second, but the Eagles responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Halterman was at it again in the fifth with an RBI single, while Nick Eastham (Morehead, Ky.) added a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth giving Midway a 3-1 lead.
The two-run cushion was more than enough for Midway's three arms which held the Mighty Oaks to just four hits in the win. Dylan Burton (Somerset, Ky.) picked up the win and improved to 4-3 after allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts in his four innings of work.
Cameron Head (Salem, Ky.) followed and pitched two scoreless innings, while Jesse Komoroski (Memphis, Tenn.) recorded his sixth save of the season after pitching a scoreless seventh.
