Second-half struggles produce sixth-straight loss for men's basketball

Box Score

MIDWAY, Ky - Seemingly in good position to snap a five-game losing streak, the wheels fells off in the second half for the Midway men's basketball team, which suffered a 79-69 River States Conference loss to Ohio Christian Saturday.

The Eagles led by as much as 15 in the first half and held a 44-34 edge after Nick Keeton scored on the opening possession of the second.

But the Blazers countered with a 7-0 run and continued to rally, going ahead for the first time, 47-46, on a Jimmy Salamone layup five minutes into the half.

The lead changed hands a few times before staying with OCU off of back-to-back 3-pointers by Obie Bronston Jr. The Trailblazers finished 10-of-25 from distance, while the Eagles were just 4-of-17.

Midway also struggled mightily from the foul line, making just 6-of-14 in a second half that saw Ohio Christian hold a 45-27 scoring advantage.

Jalen Cincore was once again Midway's most consistent weapon, leading the team with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists. Tobias Thompson had 15 points off the bench, with Keeton scoring 12 with three blocks.

Midway falls to 4-10 overall, 2-6 in the RSC. The Eagles return to action next Saturday with a 3 p.m. home game against Indiana Southeast.
