MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway went toe-to-toe with the ninth-ranked team in the NAIA early, but in-state conference foe Georgetown overpowered the Eagles the rest of the way, earning a 25-21, 25-11, 25-19 sweep in a Mid-South men's volleyball matchup at Marshall Gymnasium Thursday.

Playing at home for the first time in over a month, the Eagles had one of their sharpest sets of the season in the opener. After falling behind 4-0 early and 12-7 halfway through, the Eagles never took the lead, but were able to close the gap all the way, as a Jonathan McGuyer kill followed by a Tiger attack error tied the score at 21.

Entering the night with a 0.85 hitting percentage, the Eagles ran that number all the way up to .250 in the opener, recording 13 kills off of 12 Daniel Cogo assists.

They weren't able to play clean all the way through, unfortunately, as Georgetown closed out the set with four straight points off of four straight errors.

The second set was all Tigers, as they out-hit Midway .478 to negative .130 and while holding the Eagles to just three kills.

The Eagles had their moments again in set three, even pulling within 21-18 on a McGuyer ace, but three more kills and an Eagle service error ended the match.

Cogo finished with 21 assists, the third time he's reached that total in his last four matches. Jai'Den Chinnis led the team with seven kills and 20 atttacks, with Jose Conde getting seven digs.

Midway falls to 2-11 on the season and 0-3 in the MSC. The Eagles are back home against Wabash (Ind.) College next Wednesday at 10 a.m.
