Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway made things interesting after falling into an early hole, by Campbellsville proved too strong, pulling away for a 25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 25-17 win in Mid-South men's volleyball play Tuesday.
The Eagle defense was out of sorts early, as the Tigers had 31 kills in the first two sets while hitting .500 in the second and appeared on track for a sweep.
But a Jose Conde ace opened what proved to be a mostly dominant third set for Midway, which stretched its lead all the way to 20-12 off a Joseph Boujaoude kill. Campbellsville eventually got within 23-20, but the Eagles held them off behind closing kills by Audran Schmid and Colton Marsh, both off Conde assists.
Midway scored first again off a Jai'Den Chinnis kill in set four, but that would prove to be the highlight, as the Tigers proceeded to score six of the next seven points and didn't surrender control on their way to securing a 4-0 mark in the MSC.
Daniel Cogo and Conde split distribution duties Tuesday, Cogo finishing with 16 assists while Conde had a career-high 14.
Jonathan McGuyer and Devonte Harmon also had career-best marks, McGuyer with 12 digs, Harmon win six kills as the Eagles fell to 2-13 and 0-4 in conference play.
Midway will travel to Owensboro to face Brescia at 8 p.m. Monday.
