Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway once again had good moments, but was unable to find consistency in a 25-19, 30-28, 25-19 loss to Mid-South Conference foe Rio Grande (Ohio) Wednesday night.
The Eagles were in prime position to pull even after a first-set loss, going on a 5-1 run and taking a 23-20 lead on a Colton Marsh kill.
After the Red Storm rallied back to tie the game at 23, the two teams traded points on the next 10 possession. The Eagles had five different set-point opportunities, the last of which came on an Audran Schmid kill, but that was answered by three-consecutive kills by Rio's Caden Donaldson, as the Red Storm carried that momentum into the third set to complete the sweep.
The Eagles fall to 2-15 overall with an 0-6 record in the MSC.
Wednesday was the first of three-straight home matches for the Eagles, who host St. Mary of the Woods at 6 p.m. next Tuesday.
