Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway dropped its ninth and 10th games in a row Saturday, as Indiana Southeast completed a three-game weekend sweep with wins of 16-3 and 5-2 in a River States Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday.
GAME ONE
A potent Grenadier offense that recorded with 17 hits was led by a virtually unstoppable Max Flock, who finished 4-for-5 at the plate with six RBIs, including a two-run home run in the third and a solo shot in the fifth. Flock's final RBI produced the first of a seven-run IUS eighth inning to secure a run-rule win.
Shane Taylor and Nick Eastham both hit home runs for Midway, with Britten Robinson also driving in a run on a seventh-inning single.
GAME TWO
Things started much better for the Eagles in game two, when Zane Patton turned just his second at-bat since Feb. 11 into a two-run double and a 2-0 lead.
Midway held the advantage until the fourth inning, when IUS brought home three runners to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead, pulling ahead for good on a bases-loaded walk by Trevor Goodwin.
The Eagles finished the game with just two hits, as Grenadier pitchers proceeded to retire 15 batters in a row following Patton's RBI.
Now 12-18 on the year and 4-8 in the RSC, the Eagles are set to return home for a non-conference game against Campbellsville at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
