Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway men's volleyball had a chance to pull even in the second set, but couldn't close and eventually suffered a 25-12, 27-25, 25-18 sweep at the hands of St. Mary of the Woods (Ind.) Tuesday.
After the Pomeroys hit a blistering .500 percent in the first set, the Eagles were in great position to take the second. The opened up an 18-14 lead on an Audran Schmid kill and even had two set points, the first off a kill by Joseph Boujaoude (24-22), the second off a kill by Jai'Den Chinnis (25-24).
But that gave way to a 3-0 SMWC run, as the Pomeroys closed things out on a Marko Zolnjan kill.
Midway started strongly in the third set, even taking a 5-2 lead, but the Pomeroys once again established control with a 15-6 run.
Daniel Cogo had a strong all-around game with 19 assists and seven digs, while Chinnis had a team-best 10 kills for the 2-16 Eagles.
Midway is back at home Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. Mid-South Conference match against Cumberland (Tenn.).
