Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. - Fresh off of three wins in the previous two days, the Midway baseball team kept things rolling Monday, riding the momentum of a five-run third inning to a 9-4 win over in-state foe Union in a non-conference matchup.
Barrett McGill started the scoring with a two-out, RBI double in the first inning, then kick-started the third-inning onslaught with an RBI single.
A DJ Morain sacrifice fly made it 3-0, before Midway was able to put together another two-out rally. The Eagles, who scored 16 two-out runs in a 19-7 win over Alice Lloyd Sunday, got three more in the third, after Shane Taylor drove in two with a triple then scored on a Britten Robinson single.
Eli Glasscock, who doubled and scored in the third inning, then continued his recent power surge with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Glasscock, who hit one home run all of last season, has four this season, including one in each of his last three games.
Taylor and Robinson would then add to their RBI totals in the seventh, Taylor on a bases-loaded walk, Robinson a fielder's choice.
Eagle pitchers Jackson Lee, Cade McKee, Grant Stone and Tyler Pyles combined for 11 strikeouts while a defense that committed five errors in a 12-6 road loss to Union a season ago, didn't commit one on Monday.
Midway will return to River States Conference play this weekend with an 11-8 record. The Eagles, who were the only team to make it through RSC opening weekend 3-0, are set to travel to West Virginia Tech for a three-game series, beginning at 2 p.m. Friday.
