Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Both the 2024 season and Midway's time in the Mid-South Conference came to an end Thursday, as the sixth-seeded Eagles suffered a 25-13, 25-14, 25-15 loss to No. 3 Cumberland (Tenn.) in the opening round of the MSC Tournament.
The Eagles never led and had a negative hitting percentage in each set. The Phoenix countered by hitting .435 or better in all three, including a .550 effort in the opener.
The match brought an end to the Midway careers of seniors Daniel Cogo, Joseph Boujaoude, Colton Marsh, Jonathan McGuyer, Audran Schmid and Jaden Alston. Cogo had a team-high six assists, while Boujaoude, who was announced as a second-team all-conference honoree Thursday morning, led the way with seven digs.
Jai'Den Chinnis finished with four kills while three players had a service ace.
Prior to the match, Midway's Julia Pagan, who was named MSC Assistant Coach of the Year on Thursday, was given a trophy to commemorate her accomplishment.
The Eagles end the year with a record of 2-22. Thursday was the program's final match in the Mid-South, as men's volleyball will become an official sport in the Rivers States Conference beginning in 2025.
