Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. -- The Midway men's volleyball team wrapped up the home portion of their season on Saturday (April 6) when they welcomed Brescia (Ky.) to Marshall Gymnasium for a Mid-South Conference matchup on Senior Day.
Trailing by a set, the Eagles won the second frame to knot the match at a set apiece. The Bearcats, however, got it rolling in the third and fourth sets to clinch the 3-1 victory (25-22, 26-28, 25-18, 25-16).
Prior to opening serve, the Eagles honored Jaden Alston, Joseph Boujaoude, Daniel Cogo, Colton Marsh, Jonathan McGuyer, and Audra Schmid for their Senior Day.
Midway had a solid opening set with a .276 hitting mark, but the Bearcats (6-17, 3-6 MSC) came out firing with a .364 hitting percentage to win the opening frame.
The second stanza saw Midway face a 10-5 deficit, but they quickly battled back using an 11-6 run to pull even at 16 apiece. The Blue and Gold even faced set point at 24-21 and would respond with a quick 4-0 spurt to serve with set point and a 25-24 lead.
After going back-and-forth for the next three points, Midway pulled ahead 27-26 before getting a kill from Marsh to clinch the set 28-26 and tie the match at a set apiece.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Bearcats would post a .241 hitting percentage in the third set and a .478 attacking clip in the fourth to win the final two sets and clinch the 3-1 victory.
Marsh led the way offensively with 13 kills, while Boujaoude and Schmid chipped in eight and five kills, respectively. Boujaoude also picked up a match-high 12 digs, while McGuyer recorded 11 digs.
Cogo dished out 17 assists and carded six digs, while Jose Conde finished with 12 assists and five digs in the loss.
Kennedy Mang's squad is now set to wrap up their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Rio Grande (Ohio) in their final tune up before the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
