MIDWAY, Ky . - Midway University has announced further expansion of its athletic department, adding women's wrestling and women's flag football programs for the coming 2025-26 academic year.

Women's wrestling will begin its inaugural season in late 2025, with flag football beginning play in early 2026. With the addition of these two new sports, this will bring the total to 29 teams sponsored by the university.

"We are pleased to offer these new sports and continue our enrollment growth while utilizing existing facilities," Midway University President Dr. John Marsden said in a statement. "Our wrestling program already has its own practice gym which the women's team will use, and flag football will use our new on-campus turf field."

Women's flag football and women's wrestling have been the two most added sports by college athletic departments over the last year, according to a study by sportsenthusiasts.net.

A nationwide search has begun to find head coaches for each program. Interested applicants can apply at www.midway.edu.
