TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Eagles are prepared for another four-match weekend as they compete in the Showdown in the Woods Tournament hosted by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
All four matches this weekend will mark the first time the Eagles have faced each of these programs.
So far in 2026, the Eagles have recorded 158 assists, 167 kills and 273 digs. Allie McClanahan leads the Eagles with 36 kills, averaging 1.89 per set. Mayme Powell and Peyton Osteen have been splitting reps at the setter position. Powell has recorded 79 assists on the year, while Osteen has added 47. Defensively, Marlee Laycock leads Midway with 55 digs, while Blair Riney follows just behind her with 53.
Midway's weekend will begin on Friday as the Eagles take on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. USAO enters with a 3-1 record, averaging 12.84 kills per set while hitting .263 on the year. Iyahna Hibbler has recorded 68 kills so far this season, averaging 3.58 per set. Through four matches, Cloey Dress has dished out 104 assists, averaging 5.47 per set. Josie Griffin leads the defensive effort with 56 digs. After winning their first three matches, the Drovers dropped a five-set match against Kansas Wesleyan on Aug. 22.
The final match on Friday will see the Eagles line up against the Wolverines of Michigan-Dearborn. Both teams will be looking for their first win of 2026. Last weekend, UMD also competed at the Onset Invitational. The Wolverines faced Bethel (Ind.), Rio Grande, IU Kokomo and Saint Francis (Ind.), dropping all four matches in straight sets. Junior transfer Brooke Wilson recorded 28 kills last weekend. Skylar Cramer dished out 48 assists, while Joy Pryor added 31 assists and recorded seven service aces.
The Royals of Johnson (Tenn.) will be the third opponent of the weekend for the Eagles. With first serve set for 2 p.m., the 1-4 Royals will look to get back into the win column. They won their first match of 2026 on the road at Oakwood (Ala.) in straight sets, but have since dropped four consecutive matches against Life, Warner (Fla.), Webber International and New College of Florida. Junior outside hitter Zowee Dillard leads the Royals with 50 kills. Caelyn Marshall and Madison Dahl have each played in every set this season, with Marshall recording 77 assists and Dahl dishing out 57.
The weekend concludes with a matchup against Olivet Nazarene University. The Tigers enter the weekend with a 3-2 record, most recently defeating Grand View in straight sets. Senior outside hitter Naomi Monney-Hori has recorded 60 kills through the first five matches. Skylar Dorsey has played a big part in the Tigers' attack, dishing out 84 assists, while freshman Emma Caddell has added 72. Defensively, Breanna Lamie leads the way with 71 digs so far this season.
All four matches will be held at the Knoerle Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. Tickets are $10 at the gate. Live video links are available above, with each match costing $10 to stream.
