MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway was picked to finish eighth in a preseason poll of River States Conference men's basketball coaches released Tuesday.

The Eagles received 60 vote points, just behind West Virginia Tech (63) in seventh and well ahead of Brescia (41) in eighth.

With six of 12 first-place votes, Rio Grande earned the top spot with 111 points. Indiana Kokomo had 103 points and two first-place votes to take the second spot with Shawnee State coming in third with 98 points and three first-place votes.

Indiana East (88 points) and Indiana Southeast (87) rounded out the top five. Defending champion Saint Mary of the Woods got the other first-place vote while finishing sixth with 68 points.

Midway starts regular season play in just a little over two weeks, beginning the year at home against in-state foe Union on Oct. 23
