MIDWAY, Ky. - A pair of record-setting runs on Saturday earned Midway freshman
Connor Messer River States Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Messer had a great showing
at the outdoor season-opening Pioneer Invitational, running a program-record, first-place time of 1:55.48 in the 800-meter run.
He then closed the day by teaming with
Elie Mugisha,
Bowen Workman and
Hunter Belville to win the 4x400 relay in 3:30.49, also a program record.
It's the first River States Conference award for Messer, who is the first Eagle to win it in almost exactly a year. Teammate
Carson Milner got the honor onÂ
March 25, 2024.
The Eagles will return to action Saturday, traveling to Berea for the Landon Bond Classic, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
