GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Three members of the Midway archery program earned medals at the Kentucky State Outdoor Championships, which were hosted by USA Archery in Georgetown over the weekend.
The most success came from Eagle head coach
Darren Collins, who took first place in the men's compound 50+ division with a two-round score of 1,214. That score is believed to be an event record at the state tournament, though Collins says USA Archery was still confirming this informaiton.
Elsewhere,
Emily Phillips placed third in the recurve U21 women's division with a score of 668. Phillips will be a sophomore at Midway this fall.
Cody Fightmaster, who will join the program in the 2025-26 season, also captured a third-place finish shooting in fixed pins U21 men, scoring 1,160.
This comes after the Eagles
had their best-ever finish at a USA Archery National Tournament in May,
highlighted by an All-American performance from fixed pins shooter
Kelli Booth.
All three were competing as individuals and not officially representing Midway University.Â
