Carter, Euell capture MSFL Player of the Week honors

MIDWAY, Ky. - A dominant win in a rivalry game has led to Midwest Sprint Football League Player of the Week honors for Midway's Christian Carter and Tristian Euell.

Eagle quarterback Carter won the league's Offensive Player of the Week award after completing 13-of-16 passes for 253 yards and accounting for four touchdowns in a 50-0 blowout win over Bellarmine Saturday. He did this while only playing in the first half, taking off the second after helping Midway build a 43-0 halftime lead.

Through two games, Carter is completing 66 percent of his passes and has thrown for 573 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 108 and another score. He is the first Eagle to win the MSFL offensive award.

Defensive Player of the Week honors went to Euell, who was all over the field Saturday, helping key the first shutout in program history.

He was credited for 11 tackles (seven solo), three tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

Euell is the second Midway player to be named MSFL Defensive Player of the Week, joining former linebacker Gavin Lay, who won the award on Oct. 29 of last season.

Midway (1-1) returns home this Saturday looking to earn consecutive wins for the first time in team history. The Eagles will host Quincy (Ill.) at 1 p.m.
