MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway's men's and women's swimming teams hosted a triangle meet against Indiana Wesleyan and Shawnee State Saturday, with a senior day event held prior to the final home race of the season.
Honorees in the pre-race event wereÂ
Maddison Williams,
Daniel Maia and
Benjamin Spencer.
In competition, the Eagle women defeated Shawnee State 129-105 before losing 171-84 to Shawnee State. The men's team was defeated 150-80 by Shawnee and 173-76 by IWU.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The highlight of the day was a pair of wins by
Josie Briner.
Briner swam a 2:14.78 to win the 200-yard butterfly and a 5:35 in the 500 freestyle.
The Eagles also got five second-place finishes, with two coming from
Isa Silva. Silva swam a 2:06.07 in the 200 free and a 26.07 in the 50 free.

Pamela Ramires in the 1,650 free (20:21.84),
Amber Klose in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.57) and
Kaelynn Martin in the 200 backstroke (2:19.03).Â
MEN'S RESULTS
Caique Nunes Maia was the standout on the men's side with one win and a pair of runner-up performances.
Nunes Maia came out on top in the 1,650 free, winning in 18:19.49. Individually, he was second in the 100 free, touching the wall in 49.38, just 0.37 seconds behind the winner David Marc Beatty of Indiana Wesleyan.

David Roach then took second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:31.58. The Eagles lost that race by just .38 seconds to a team from Shawnee State.
The Eagles have just one dual remaining before the Mid-South Conference Championships. They travel to face in-state foe Asbury at noon next Saturday.
