Arens-Ennis qualifies for nationals in level-one horsemanship

MURRAY, Ky. - Midway's Lauren Arens-Ennis has clinched a spot at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Tournament.

Competing at the IHSA Semifinals on Sunday, Arens-Ennis, a junior on the Midway western team, was the reserve champion in individual level-one horsemanship competition.

That performance was enough to qualify her for IHSA Nationals, which will be held in Mill Spring, N.C. on May 1-3.

Midway has been well represented at nationals in recent years. The Eagles finished third as a team in both 2023 and 2024, while Alana Utlak was a level-two horsemanship champion in each of the last two seasons.

Arens-Ennis was one of two Eagles to ride at the semifinals this weekend. On Saturday, Tate Gill finished fifth in open horsemanship.
