MIDWAY, Ky. - Taylor Voorhees has been named River States Conference Baseball's Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Eagles secure a weekend sweep of Shawnee State.
Voorhees hit .545 in three games against the Bears, which was highlighted by a 4-for-5, two-run, two-RBI performance in Friday's series opener,
a 10-7 Eagle win.Â
He kept the hot streak going with a three-run, first-inning home run in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader,
where the Eagles completed the sweep with wins of 5-2 and 7-4.
The junior transfer has now driven in a team-best 32 runs for an Eagle squad that is 23-12 on the season and 12-6 in the RSC. This is Voorhees' second conference Player of the Week award,
the first coming on Feb. 23.
Before traveling to Rio Grande for a three-game conference series this weekend, Midway will face a major challenge Tuesday when it hosts the University of the Cumberlands, the No. 6 team in the NAIA, at 3 p.m.
