Taylor Voorhees named RSC Player of the Week

MIDWAY, Ky. - A monster weekend at the plate earned Midway's Taylor Voorhees the River States Conference's Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

Voorhees had multiple RBIs in all three appearances he made in a four-game sweep of the Saints, driving in nine runs and hitting .545 for the series. The highlight was a 4-of-4, five-RBI performance in game one, which the Eagles won 16-15 in 10 innings.

This marks the second week in a row a Midway player has won a Player of the Week award, with Tyler Pyles being named the conference's top pitcher on Feb. 16.

Winners of six in a row, the Eagles are currently off to the best start in program history at 8-3. They are slated to begin the River States Conference portion of their schedule this weekend with a three-game home series against Brescia on Friday and Saturday.

Before that, Midway will host Campbellsville at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Campbellsville game was originally slated to be played on Tuesday, but was postponed 24 hours due to weather.
