Game 1: Midway 8, Carlow 3
The Eagles struck first scoring three runs on three hits in the second stanza. Katie Rhodes (Cedar Hill, Tenn.) broke the scoreless affair with an RBI single, while Raigan Allbert (White Bluff, Tenn.) followed with a two-run single to make it a 3-0 lead.
Carlow tied the game following a three spot in the third, but Midway regained the advantage after scoring five runs on seven hits in the fourth.
The bottom of the fourth saw Carly Jones (Bardstown, Ky.), Rhodes, and Kennadi Thompson (Louisville, Ky.) each hit RBI singles before Madison Ludwig (Louisville, Ky.) helped her own cause with a two-run double extending the lead to 8-3.
The five-run cushion was more than enough for Ludwig, who improved her record in the circle to 7-3 after picking up the win. She tossed a complete game allowing three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
Offensively, Midway recorded 13 hits with the duo of Rhodes and Taylor Dukate (Owensboro, Ky.) leading the way. Rhodes went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Dukate also went 3-for-4 with two runs. Allbert, meanwhile, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in the win.
Game 2: Midway 10, Carlow 0
The Eagles picked up right where they left off in game one scoring two runs on three hits in the first. Katie Rhodes and Kennadi Thompson singled before Kyra McCall (White House, Tenn.) ripped a two-run double giving her squad the early 2-0 lead.
The lead ballooned to double figures after scoring eight runs on five hits in the second. Carly Jones hit an RBI double off the wall in center field before Rhodes continued her big day by hitting a two-run home run – her second of the season – over the right field fence.
Taylor Dukate then hit a two-run single through the right side, while Emily Taylor (Walton, Ky.) capped the scoring with an RBI single to right. Prior to Taylor's RBI single, McCall – who walked earlier in the inning – scored on a passed ball.
Sarah Jo Calhoun (Campbellsville, Ky.) picked up the win the circle and improved to 4-2 after pitching four shutout innings. She scattered three hits before giving way to Makayla McDowell (Nicholasville, Ky.) who pitched a scoreless fifth to clinch the run-rule victory.
