Brent Aldridge Named Interim Softball Head Coach

MIDWAY, Ky. -Midway University has announced Brent Aldridge as the interim head softball coach, effective immediately.

Aldridge has been an assistant coach for Midway Softball since the fall of 2025. During his time with the Eagles, he has coached an NAIA Third-Team All-American as well as a River States Conference First Team All-Conference player.

Aldridge started his coaching career in 2005 at the travel ball level with the Central Kentucky Batcats. He would stay with the organization until 2012. Aldridge started his high school coaching career in 2007 when he was an assistant at Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. During his time at Anderson County, he assisted with the JV and freshman teams and helped lead Anderson County to its first state tournament appearance in 2008.

After seven years as an assistant, he was promoted to head coach in 2014. He would serve two stints from 2014-17 and then again from 2021-25. During his combined eight seasons, he had a record of 202-80 (.716), won five district titles and four regional titles, and finished fourth in the Kentucky State Tournament in 2015. He was also named Region Coach of the Year eight times. In addition to his own honors, he coached several all-district, all-region and all-state student-athletes.

"We are excited to have Brent Aldridge step into the role of interim head coach of our softball program," said Dr. Heath Morgan, VP of Athletics and Student Affairs. "Brent brings a strong understanding of our program and our student-athletes, and we are confident in his ability to lead them during this transition. His commitment to developing our student-athletes both on and off the field makes him a great fit for this role, and we look forward to seeing him continue to move the program forward as we conduct our search for our next head coach."

"I am incredibly excited and grateful to be named interim head softball coach," said Aldridge. "I want to thank the university, administration and the entire athletic department for trusting me with this opportunity. I look forward to building upon an excellent foundation and working with this great group of student-athletes. Go Eagles!"

Aldridge will serve as the interim head coach while Midway University conducts a national search for the next head coach of the softball program.
