MIDWAY, Ky. -- The River States Conference office announced on Monday, April 24, that for the second consecutive week, Madison Ludwig of the Midway softball team had been named the RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance the week of April 17-23.

The weekly honor is the third of the season for Ludwig, while it is the seventh of her career. She previously earned the honor for the weeks of April 10-16 and March 6-12.

Ludwig, a senior from Louisville, Ky., picked up the honor after carding a 4-2 record in her five appearances in the circle last week. She tossed 33 innings and recorded a 3.18 earned run average with 28 strikeouts.

Within her four conference outings, Ludwig compiled a 3-1 record and registered a 1.62 earned run average after allowing just six earned runs. She fanned 25 over her 26 innings and held opponents to a .250 batting average.

In the doubleheader against Rio Grande (Ohio), Ludwig tossed a complete game shutout in the opener before suffering a tough loss in the nightcap.

Then, in Midway's sweep of West Virginia Tech, Ludwig she a career-high 13 in a complete game victory in the opener before entering the game in relief in the nightcap. She earned the win after pitching the final eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits with five strikeouts.

After her performances last week, Ludwig improved her record to 18-7 on the season. She's pitched 167 innings and has 127 strikeouts with a 2.51 earned run average. Ludwig currently leads the RSC in wins, while ranking second in strikeouts and third in ERA.

Ludwig and the rest of her teammates are scheduled to return to action on Friday when they host St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) for a pivotal RSC doubleheader.
