Box Score 2 DAYTON, Tenn. - It was a rough day for the Eagle offense, as Midway had just three hits in both games of a softball doubleheader against Bryan (Tenn.) Monday, with the Eagles getting shut out in both.
Katie Rhodes had two hits and starting pitcher Makayla McDowell kept the Lions off the scoreboard after the third inning, but the Eagles weren't able to put a runner on third base until the seventh inning of game one, a 4-0 defeat.
In just the second start of her Midway career, Anna Duncan scattered seven hits and three runs in a complete game, but the Eagle offense was stymied by Lion starter Denver Hogrefe, who struck out seven with no walks in a 3-0 Bryan win in the finale.
Midway, which falls to 2-8, will play the last of a 12-game stretch of road contests to open the season against third-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday. The first game of a doubleheader is set to begin at 3 p.m.
