MIDWAY, Ky. - For the
second week in a row and the
third time this season, Midway came away with multiple Player of the Week honors from the Midwest Sprint Football League.
Defensive back
Preston Moore was named the MSFL's top defensive player for the second straight week, while running back
Demari Edelen was selected as Offensive Player of the Week, following their performances in a historic
78-0 win over Oakland City on Saturday.
The Eagles broke the MSFL record for points in a game, and Moore had a direct hand in that, returning two interceptions for touchdowns. Midway held OCU to negative-12 yards of offense and had three pick-sixes, with Moore's coming from 34 and 20 yards out in the first quarter.
The senior from Elkton, Ky. has recorded two interceptions in back-to-back weeks and now has five picks on the season.
Edelen got his first conference honor after gashing the Mighty Oak defense for 220 yards and two touchdowns on just 18 carries. This was the first 200-yard rushing game in Midway history.
The Louisville native also set the program single-season rushing record in the process, as he enters the final week of the regular season with 614 yards on the ground.
Now 4-2 with its spot in the MSFL playoffs secured, Midway closes the regular season against 5-0 Calumet (Ind.) at home Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon with a senior day celebration to take place beforehand.Â
